13U Lady Wildcats win the MCYSA League Cup

Flight 3 13U Lady Wildcats faced off against Flight 1 Rockaway Crossfire in the 2017 League Cup finals on Saturday, November 11th. The Lady Wildcats started off slow in the first half with the Crossfire keeping the ball on their side for the majority of the 35 minutes played. Early on in the game the Crossfire scored a goal that slipped in across the goal from the left side. The Lady Wildcats defense didn't back down and central defender Mia Diaz dribbled the ball up the left side and blasted the ball into the opposing goal's far corner. The Lady Wildcats entered into the second half with a smart kick off back to Sarah Radler who deposited the ball far into the opposing half to start a reverse of the first half game play. The Lady Wildcats dominated the second half keeping the majority of the play on the opposing side. Luck was certainly on their side when a Rockaway player took a strong shout outside of the 18 that hit the sidepost and ricocheted off away from the goal. With about ten minutes left in the game the Lady Cats defense cleared the ball up to midfield Sarah Radler who crossed the ball up to forward Leah English. Leah blew past Rockaway's defense and was victorious in a one on one against the goalie. Now leading the game 2-1 the Lady Wildcats continued to put the pressure on the Crossfire. Leah English scored a second goal giving the Lady Cats a strong advantage with just minutes left on the clock. This is the first League Cup with for the Skylands HP United Soccer Club.
